The Legacy of Rupam Sarees
“A garment bought off a rack is a transaction. But choosing unstitched running materials, touching the silk weave, and designing your own one-of-a-kind ensemble is an unforgettable creative memory.”
Founded in the Historic Heart of Chennai
In 1983, Rupam Sarees opened its doors in Chennai with a singular, uncompromising vision: to bring the purest handwoven textiles from the master looms of Varanasi, Surat, and Kanchipuram directly to discerning brides and bespoke tailors.
While others shifted toward mass-produced, ready-made garments, Rupam remained fiercely loyal to the sanctity of running materials sold strictly by the metre. We believe that true luxury lies in unstitched potential.
From Grandmother to Mother to Bride
Over four decades, Rupam Sarees has had the rare privilege of dressing three successive generations of the same families. Grandmothers who selected their wedding silk running lengths with us in the 1980s now accompany their daughters and granddaughters to select bespoke lehengas and reception ensembles.
Movie stylists, haute couture designers, and NRI brides fly into Chennai specifically to explore our private running archives, finding rare weaves that exist nowhere else in South India.
Mix & Match is an Art Form
Why settle for a pre-stitched garment that hundreds of others might wear? At Rupam, you are the designer. You select a skirt fabric from thousands of running rolls, explore contrast shades for the blouse, and crown it with an ethereal dupatta under our showroom lights. When every piece comes together, you haven’t just styled an outfit — you’ve crafted an unforgettable memory.
