Rupam Sarees began in 1983 in a modest 100 square foot shop, built on determination and a deep love for fabric. Our founder showed up every single day — rain or shine, early mornings or late nights. His goal was simple: every customer who walked in should leave satisfied.
Word spread. Trust grew. Facebook brought customers from across India, then buyers from the UK, the US and the Middle East. Instagram connected us with designers and tailors who understood what we stand for.
Four decades on, the fabric doesn’t change — only the way we reach you does.
A Fabric Store in Chennai That Sells by the Meter
Most people arrive at a fabric store in Chennai with something specific in mind: a blouse to match, a lehenga to line, a gown that so far exists only as a sketch. Buying by the meter means you take exactly what that piece needs and nothing more. A ready-made garment decides for you. A roll of fabric leaves the decision where it belongs, with you and your tailor.
Cut to Your Requirement
We measure and cut in front of you. If your tailor has asked for two and a quarter meters, that is what you pay for — nothing rounded up to a convenient number, nothing pre-packed. On heavily embroidered yardage we will tell you honestly what the pattern repeat will cost you in wastage before you buy, not after.
Matched, Not Approximated
Our plain matching wall carries hundreds of shades in the same weave, so a lining, a blouse and a dupatta can be matched to one another exactly rather than approximately. This is the single reason most customers still choose a physical fabric store in Chennai over ordering online: colour on a screen is a guess, colour against cloth is a fact.
Retail and Trade at the Same Counter
A bride buying one blouse piece and a boutique owner buying forty meters are served from the same shelves, at the same quality. Designers, tailoring units and resellers are welcome to ask for the trade rate card. For bulk requirements we hold stock, arrange packing and ship across India and overseas — so a fabric store in Chennai can serve a customer who has never set foot in the city.
